Old Year Resolution (Part 2)

Even though 2020 is done with us, I’m not sure if we should be done with it. And not only with 2020, but with our past.

Our past is full of wisdom and we can always learn a thing or two (or three) from it. Or maybe we learned them and you don’t even realize it. And even though I see many people wanting for 2020 to disappear from their past, maybe we should consider it as a huge lesson for humanity.

Also, I consider we need to look at our past just as we look at a friend and we shouldn’t judge it two harsh because it is different (even though it feels like 2020 danced naked with every single person on this planet, embarrassing everybody).

So, I’m just curious to find out about you and your experiences. As for me, this is my answer to the below question:

  1. I’ve learned that some people are your friends just because they get something out of you (e.g. attention, meals, help) and that if you ever need their help, they disappear from the face of the Earth. I’ve learned this from one of my closest friends and several not-so-close friends;
  2. I’ve learned that we can always learn something new (e.g. how to set up a better blog, how to share without expecting anything in return. I’m continuously learning this from you every single day;
  3. I’ve learned that working from home is not as easy as I thought. I’ve learned this from my employer because of Covid.

Which are the best 3 things you’ve learned in 2020 and where did you learn those from?

  1. Awesome. I’ve learnt.. 1. The world is a stage and there are actors. 2. Most of my life has been a lie, from the brainwashing education system. 3. There is a divine plan unfolding right now. ❤

  2. These three I’ve know nearly forever. This past year their mean became poignant.

    Romans 13:1 New King James Version concerning Government
    Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

    The aphorism, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” is credited to Spanish philosopher George Santayana Déjà vu 1930s.

  3. I have learnt that 1, I am truly blessed to be here and be surrounded by my family and loved ones, many do not have this. 2, Inside of me is a gift to some people, and I need to stop being afraid of letting that gift shine 3, No one knows it all, we are all learning….

  4. There is absolutely nothing wrong with dancing naked with the world. I’d do it if I wouldn’t get arrested. And I could dance.

    IMHO 2020 was more like a boxing match a heavyweight and a housewife. Mike Tyson was disqualified for trying to bite off her ear..

  5. Not so much new lessons as constant reinforcements of things I already knew: 1.) Be kind and patient with yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup. 2.) Find joy in every little moment. Collect it, store it up, and value it just as much as the big moments. 3.) Do what you can do. Focus on that. Don’t get caught up in everything you can’t do. Even small actions can make a big difference when they build up over time.

  6. I’ve learned not to commit myself to an identity based on circumstances and ideas that can so quickly go away. In that regard the pandemic was a blessing cause it taught me to let go of things I valued without questioning, that the essence of me is here and now and not in past glories or future worry.
